Psychotherapy of Somatic Development
...Gestalt therapy, with its emphasis on immediate awareness and participation, offers a method to develop the necessary support for a continuous personal creative adjustment, which is the way to deal with the experience of dying and therefore of living. Laura Perls
Somatic Development Psychotherapy (SDP), developed by PhD Ruella Frank,is a relational and movement-oriented psychotherapy, within a framework of contemporary gestalt therapy.
Inspired by the work of developmental psychologists, of movement theorists and somatic educators, Somatic Development psychotherapy is a model to understand and work with the psychophysical blocks of development, just as they emerge in the present moments of the therapy with adults. By focusing on the patterns of movement in the therapy, we gain power due to we have a thought of development as a guide.
Psychotherapists of all modalities can integrate this approach to their clinical practice. (For more information: somaticstudies.com)
